A military ceremony was held today at the “First Infantry Regiment of Prince Miloš the Great” barracks in Vranje, to mark the Fourth Army Brigade Day, which commemorates January 31, 1878, when the Serbian Army liberated Vranje.
In front of brigade members standing in formation, messages congratulating the anniversary were read, the most significant accomplishments in the development of the unit’s operational capabilities were presented and awards were given to the most deserving individuals.
The summary of results achieved over the past year highlighted the brigade members’ dedication, professionalism and a high degree of training, which they demonstrated in joint exercises and in the execution of all assigned tasks, primarily along the administrative line with Kosovo and Metohija, thus contributing to the strengthening of operational capabilities of the Army and ensuring security for all citizens in that part of the Republic of Serbia.
The ceremony was attended by Deputy Army Commander, Major General Slađan Stamenković, representatives of SAF units, Serbian Orthodox Church, local self-government bodies and institutions cooperating with the brigade and numerous guests.
Today, members of the Fourth Army Brigade also celebrated the unit’s patron saint’s day – St. Athanasius the Great, and on that occasion, the holy liturgy was celebrated by Bishop Dositej of Lipljan, who is also the Vicar of Serbian Patriarch Porfirije and the military bishop.
