Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović, with the delegation of the Serbian Armed Forces and His Eminence, Bishop Arsenije of Niš and the military bishop, is on an official visit to the Hilandar Monastery.
This is the first official visit of the Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff to this monastery on the Holy Mountain, which is one of the most important centers of Orthodoxy in the world.
General Mojsilović bowed to the saints in Hilandar and talked with the abbot of the monastery, Archimandrite Methodius, and the monks. Expressing gratitude for the hospitality, General Mojsilović pointed out that he was honored and pleased to be the first Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff to visit Mount Athos and one of the most significant spiritual and cultural centers of the Serbian people, the Hilandar Monastery.
The visit takes place at a time when the Hilandar Monastery is celebrating the founder's patron saint — the Holy King Milutin. On this day, the Day of Chaplaincy Service is celebrated in the Serbian Armed Forces, in memory of November 12, 1839, when a law was passed regulating the chaplaincy service in the Serbian military at that time.
