Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff General Milan Mojsilović has spoken with new KFOR Commander Major General Enrico Barduani in Belgrade today.
During the first meeting between the two generals since the Italian general took over the position of commander of international forces in our province in mid-October, they discussed the current security situation in Kosovo and Metohija and joint activities of the Serbian Armed Forces and KFOR.
General Mojsilović has pointed out that, in accordance with UNSC Resolution 1244 and Military-Technical Agreement, as well as other signed agreements, KFOR is the only legitimate armed formation in the territory of Kosovo and Metohija and asked the newly appointed KFOR Commander that the international forces consistently and impartially carry out their mandate and, above all, protect Serbs and Serbian religious, cultural and historical heritage in the Province.
With the assessment that the security situation in Kosovo and Metohija is unstable and sensitive, he has pointed out that the biggest threat to security is the unilateral and provocative moves by the provisional institutions of self-government in Priština aimed at changing the ethnic structure in the north of the Province.
The Chief of the General Staff congratulated General Barduani on his appointment to the new position and expressed his expectation that during his mandate as Head of the International Security Force, the cooperation between the Serbian Armed Forces and KFOR would be professional and directed towards preserving regional peace and stability.
