Air Force and Air Defense Day

Military ceremonies have been held at the Air Force and Air Defense Command and units to mark the Day of this arm of the Serbian Armed Forces, in memory of 24 December 1912, when the decision was passed on the formation of the Air Force Command headquartered in Niš.
On the occasion of the holiday, a ceremonial academy was held at the Air Force Club in Zemun, in the presence of Minister of Defense Bratislav Gašić, Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff General Milan Mojsilović, active and retired Air Force and Air Defense members, representatives of the Serbian Armed Forces’ units, local government bodies, religious communities and institutions with which successful cooperation was achieved, as well as numerous guests.
In reference to the achieved results, it has been pointed out that, thanks to the professional approach, excellent skills and high morale of the Air Force and Air Defense members, all assigned tasks were successfully completed in the year behind us, and that, with strong support and understanding of the state leadership, the trend of equipping, modernizing and strengthening overall capabilities of this arm of the Serbian Armed Forces continued.
On this occasion, the host of the ceremony, Air Force and Air Defense Commander Lieutenant General Duško Žarković, presented the Plaque of Air Force and Air Defense to Acting Director of the Aviation Service of the Government of the Republic of Serbia Nebojša Skorić, for successful and fruitful cooperation.
On the occasion of today’s holiday, military ceremonies have been held at the Air Force and Air Defense units, the most successful individuals were given incentives, and wreaths were laid at the memorials in the barracks and military airfields where this arm of the military preserves the memory of the deceased and fallen Air Force and Air Defense members.
