Serbian Armed Forces’ Aviation Day

Aviation Day — 02nd August — has been solemnly celebrated at the Command and aviation units of Air Force and Air Defence, in memory of the day in 1893 when an order was issued to form aviation sections in the divisions of the Serbian Army.
On that occasion, ceremonies have been held at the Aviation Club in Zemun and military airfields “Colonel-Pilot Milenko Pavlović” in Batajnica and “Morava” in Lađevci.
As part of the holiday celebration, there were a parade of units and a display of aviation technology, wreaths were laid at the memorial in honor of the fallen Air Force members, and golden flying badges of pilots, flight instructor titles and other recognitions for building and strengthening the capabilities of the Serbian Armed Forces were presented.
Looking back on the achieved results and rich history of Serbian Air Force, it has been pointed out that members of the aviation branch of the Serbian Armed Forces have successfully completed all their tasks in the past year, as well as that the continued equipping and intensive training of individuals and units significantly improved the capabilities of this branch, which represents the striking force and bearer of combat power and maneuver in Air Force and Air Defence.
Air Force and Air Defence Commander Lieutenant General Duško Žarković attended the military ceremonies at the Aviation Club and military airfield in Batajnica.
The ceremonies at the airfields were also attended by representatives of the Serbian Armed Forces’ units, former commanders, families of fallen soldiers and officers, representatives of local government bodies and religious communities, and numerous guests and friends of the units.
