Monday, 4.12.2023 | Training
At the “South” Base and “Borovac” Training Ground near Bujanovac, intensive training of the SAF force protection platoon is underway preparing for participation in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).
This is the final part of the second phase of months-long preparations the unit members go through before being deployed to the operation area in order to be fully qualified for fulfilling the tasks as part of the United Nations peacekeeping forces.
After individual tactical and firearms training, conducted in the first training phase, the unit is now practicing in field conditions the tactics, techniques and procedures for carrying out intended tasks in Lebanon, with an emphasis on procedures during patrolling and securing the base.
Training of the force protection platoon ends next week with the execution of a tactical exercise, where the skills and interoperability of this Training Command unit will be practically tested for participation in the mission.
The Serbian Armed Forces have been deploying a force protection platoon in UNIFIL since 2014, as part of the Italian contingent. The main task of the unit is to secure the base where UN forces are stationed. In addition to this platoon, the Serbian Armed Forces also deploy an infantry company in Lebanon, as well as staff officers and a group of specialists in charge of supporting our contingent.
