Wednesday, 28.8.2024 | International Co-operation
Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff General Milan Mojsilović has spoken with Commander of JFC Naples Admiral Stuart B. Munsch today, as part of his visit to the Republic of Serbia.
The discussion at the meeting covered the scope and perspectives of cooperation between the Serbian Armed Forces and JFC Naples and current security situation in the region and world, focusing on the situation in Kosovo and Metohija, since international forces in the Province are under the jurisdiction of this command.
It has been pointed out that the Serbian Armed Forces are a credible partner within the established cooperation mechanisms, with full respect for the policy of military neutrality of the Republic of Serbia, and cooperation itself was assessed as constructive, useful and professional. The interlocutors have agreed that both sides are interested in continuing cooperation in the areas of mutual interest, stressing that this approach has so far contributed to the preservation of regional peace and stability.
General Mojsilović has particularly expressed concern to his interlocutor about the unilateral and goal-directed moves by the provisional institutions of self-government in Pristina, which threaten the security of Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija, stressing the importance of the role of international forces in the Province.
The Chief of the General Staff has said that, for our side, KFOR represents the key security actor in the Province, whose basic task derives from UNSC Resolution 1244 and all signed agreements. Since KFOR is under the jurisdiction of JFC Naples, he has pointed out that he expects this command to take measures that will be aimed at creating a safe environment in the Province for everyone, and, above all, for the citizens of Serbian nationality.
As part of his visit to the Republic of Serbia, Admiral Munsch has been received by Minister of Defense Bratislav Gašić earlier today.
