Day of the Fourth Army Brigade Marked

In the barracks “First Infantry Regiment of Prince Miloš the Great” in Vranje today, a celebration was held to mark the Day of the Fourth Army Brigade.
Commander of the Fourth Army Brigade Brigadier General Slobodan Stopa spoke in his address about the results of the unit in the year behind us.
- I am proud to underline that in 2018 we were dedicated and worked hard to achieve remarkable results. This confirms that Serbia and the Serbian Armed Forces have a reliable, strong, highly trained and qualified unit ready to fulfill all assigned tasks at all times in all three missions, General Stopa pointed out.
During the ceremony, the march past of the units and demonstration of equipment and armaments of the Brigade were organised. The most prominent officers and soldiers received awards, and the plaque of the Fourth Army Brigade was given to the director of Yumko company, Branislav Trajković.
The celebration was attended by the Army Commander Lieutenant General Milosav Simović, Mayor of the town of Vranje Slobodan Milenković, representatives of the local governments, Serbian Orthodox Church, associations of military pensioners, reserve officers and NCOs and veterans and descendants of liberation wars, as well as numerous friends of the Fourth Army Brigade.
On the Day of the Fourth Brigade – 31st January, which is marked in memory of the liberation of Vranje from the Turks in 1878, members of the Fourth Brigade celebrate also the day of its patron saint – Saint Athanasius the Great. On this occasion, in the facilities of the brigade intended for the divine service, the divine liturgy, with co-celebration of military priests, was performed by Bishop Pahomije of Vranje.
After the completion of the liturgy, Bishop Pahomije presented the episcopal grammatas to the Army Commander, Lieutenant General Milosav Simović, and Commander of the Fourth Army Brigade, Brigadier General Slobodan Stopa, while the military priest in the brigade, hiereus second lieutenant Vedran Kostić was promoted to a higher church rank.
