Rotation of SAF Unit in UN Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus
Thursday, 5.10.2023 | Multinational Operations
This week, there has been a regular rotation of an MP unit the Serbian Armed Forces engage in the UN Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus.
This unit, with the size of a squad, performs a wide range of MP tasks as part of the British Contingent, such as undertaking measures of protection of engaged forces, acts of investigation, security patrols and escorts of important figures. While performing its duties, our unit also cooperates with local police forces.
For the past six months, members of the Serbian Armed Forces who handed over their duties had carried out all assigned tasks in accordance with the mandate of the mission and thus represented the Republic of Serbia and the Serbian Armed Forces in the best possible way in an international environment. They were replaced by experienced military policemen from SAF units sent to the area of operation in late September.
In addition to the MP squad, the Serbian Armed Forces also deploy staff officers in the mission HQ in Nicosia in the UN Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus, and previously, from 2011 to 2018, it deployed a unit of an infantry platoon level.
