Marking the tenth anniversary of the Central Logistics Base

In the General Zivko Pavlovic barracks in Smederevo, today, the Day of the Central Logistics Base has been marked as well as ten years of existence of that largest logistic unit of the Serbian Armed Forces.
The ceremonial gathering was attended by the Advisor to the President of the Republic of Serbia, Milorad Simic, Defence Minister Zoran Djordjevic and his associates, Chief of General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces General Ljubisa Dikovic, with members of the extended Collegium, Bishop of Sumadija Jovan, previous unit commanders and brigade commanders, representatives of local governments, enterprises, organizations and associations with which the base cooperates.
Advisor to the President of the Republic of Serbia, Milorad Simic, presented the Commander of the Base, Brigadier General Peter Latkovic with Order of Merits for Defence and Security Level 3, by which the President of the Republic awarded that unit.
On that occasion, Milorad Simic stressed that the Central Logistics Base is the basis of logistic support and the mainstay for all units in carrying out their tasks.
– Dear members of the Central Logistics Base, you are expected to continue the successful implementation of the tasks entrusted to you. I am convinced that this award by the President of the Republic and Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces is a stimulus for all of you in your further work – Simic said.
Brigadier General Peter Latkovic recalled the significant events and results of the work of the unit. He pointed out the specifics of that unit – a large number of buildings and warehouses at various locations in Serbia, adding that this was for the first time that members of the Base were lined up in one place together.
– This unit is entrusted with reserves and stocks which are of paramount importance for the Serbian Armed Forces and the Republic of Serbia. Safeguarding the assets entrusted to us and fight for the prescribed quality of items that enter into our warehouses is our everyday task. I can assure you that the members of the Central Logistics Base will continue also in the forthcoming period to be a reliable support to all units of the Serbian Armed Forces and institutions of the Ministry of Defence – the Base Commander said.
On the occasion of the Day of the unit, the best individuals from the Central Logistics Base have been awarded and commended, which was followed by a parade of units and vehicles available in that Base.
