Citizens gathered in front of the monument "Porodica" at the Novi Sad Raids victims quay, where Milos Vucevic mayor of Novi Sad spoke.
- One of the darkest pages of our history will never be forgotten - he said , among other things , Vucevic said that there is no alternative to coexistence in this region but to follow the beaten path of appreciation of ethnic and religious tolerance .
With the help of Novi Sad priests and deacons the memorial service was served by Bishop of Backa , while the commemorative memorial for the Jewish community was held a Chief Rabbi of Serbia Isak Asiel.
The Hungarian army , the gendarmerie and the Royal State Police have started raids in the early morning of 21 January in 1942. The raids resulted in arrests of citizens and entire families. The occupiers killed instantly some innocent victims in the street, he took part to the Novi Sad beach " Strand " , where they were murdered and thrown into the Danube, while the majority of people were taken to Strand the Novi Sad beach, where they were killed , or thrown live under the ice .
