New Motorcycles in the Serbian Armed Forces after 30 Years

Members of the Guard of the Serbian Armed Forces presented their new service military-police motorcycles in the “Dedinje” barracks. A demonstration was held of stationary escort and escort on the move.
Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin, who attended the presentation and demonstration of the escorts at the standstill and on the move, pointed out that the Serbian Armed Forces would continue equipping and taking care of its members.
– Just like President of the Republic of Serbia and Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces Aleksandar Vučić ordered, the Serbian Armed Forces will be intensively equipped with the state-of-the-art materiel. But, as you can see, not just by the “MiGs”, and not just by tanks, but by motorcycles as well and everything that is necessary for everyday life of all the members of the Serbian Armed Forces. It was more than 30 years ago when we acquired the motorcycles, much like it was more than 30 years ago that we acquired the most modern planes of the time. Just like we are procuring the planes, we will acquire motorcycles, automobiles, vans, and we will acquire everything that the Serbian Armed Forces require – Minister Vulin stressed.
According to him, by reintroducing the capability of motorcycle escort and traffic control by means of motorcycles, another characteristic of the Serbian Armed Forces is restored which helps the citizens of Serbia in their everyday life.
– When you see the military participating in traffic management, you know that your state is there, you know that there is order, peace, law and system. The Serbian Armed Forces will continue equipping, just like it will continue taking care of its personnel, about its members, so it will provide them with the-state-of-the-art assets which will enable them to execute all their tasks – Minister Vulin pointed out.
Speaking about the importance of the new motorcycles for the Guard of the Serbian Armed Forces, the Guard Commander Major General Milomir Todorović underscored that the modernisation of the Serbian Armed Forces with the latest assets had been continued in the framework of the task given by the President of the Republic and Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces and upon initiative and great assistance of Minister Vulin.
– Within the scope of those activities, the Guard has received 12 new BMW motorcycles with 1250 cubic capacity of the engine, which are the latest motorcycles on the market, whose primary purpose is escort driving, VIP escort, traffic management and control both military and road. By receiving those motorcycles, we have gained very much in terms of enhancing the capabilities of the Guard to execute its tasks, and presenting the image of the Guard and the armed forces as a whole – General Todorović highlighted.
Sergeant Major Ivan Obradović was among the members of the Guard Military Police who rode the new motorcycles and he noted that those were top quality motorcycles, and more importantly, as he stressed, they ate the best in their class when it came to traffic management using motorcycles.
– For the safety of the participants in the traffic, and especially the motorcycle drivers who deal with traffic management, it is very important that you have a good means for the work and to be well equipped. This asset satisfies all safety aspects so that our members could manage the traffic, and together with the motorcycles, we have received the most modern protective equipment – Sergeant Major Obradović highlighted adding that the power of the motorcycles was 1250, with horsepower of 136, that they were equipped with special devices for sound and light signalling, and they were also equipped with the safest ABS pro breaking system, which enables abrupt slowing down and speeding and restoring the escort formation much quicker and safer than in previous generations of motorcycles.
