Day of Peacekeeping Operations Centrе and 20 Years of SAF Deployment in Multinational Operations Marked

Ceremony marking the Day of the Peacekeeping Operations Center of the General Staff Operations Directorate and two decades of the Serbian Armed Forces deployment in multinational operations was held tonight in the Guard House at Topčider. The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Defense Miloš Vučević and Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović.
Congratulating the holiday, Minister Vučević pointed out that he was confident that the General Staff, headed by General Mojsilović and all the officers, would do everything up to the Serbian Armed Forces for our most capable soldiers to be deployed in multinational operations to help those who needed help the most.
- On behalf of the Ministry of Defense, to all of you who represented Serbia, worked to preserve peace in all parts of the world where our military was deployed, I congratulate the anniversary of two decades since the return of our military to that format of military missions and, to you, Colonel, Chief of the Peacekeeping Operations Center, I congratulate the anniversary with the hope that you and your colleagues will continue to successfully carry out the preparations of all the brave people who decided to give a part of themselves and sometimes, their own life, to protect peace, in order to save the lives of some people in places far away from us, but people who also deserve to live peacefully - said Minister Vučević.
On the occasion of the holiday of the Peacekeeping Operations Center, Minister Vučević presented the Plaque of the Ministry of Defense to the Chief of the Peacekeeping Operations Center, Colonel Mirjana Milenković, PhD.
Tonight, the monograph "20 years of the Serbian Armed Forces Deployment in Multinational Operations” was presented, and the documentary film "Deployment of the Serbian Armed Forces in Multinational Operations" was premiered at the ceremony enriched with cultural and artistic program.
The celebration of the holiday was also attended by the Minister for European Integration Tanja Miščević, PhD, Head of the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Serbia Emanuel Giofre, members of the Collegium of the Minister of Defense and the Collegium of the Chief of the General Staff, family members of the tragically killed Lieutenant Colonel Dejan Stanojević, representatives of the military-diplomatic corps, veterans, former members and chiefs of the Center, Military Academy cadets, as well as representatives of the institutions of the Republic of Serbia.
The Day of the Peacekeeping Operations Center is marked in memory of November 17, 1956, when the advanced party of the Yugoslav Army, which consisted of 44 members, stepped on the Sinai land, ten days after the resolution of the UN General Assembly established the UNEF mission. Deployment of the Yugoslav forces in peacekeeping missions started with this peacekeeping operation.
