Training with Armored Personnel Carriers BTR-80/80A

The first group of the Serbian Armed Forces’ members has undergone training in the use and maintenance of armored personnel carriers BTR-80 and BTR-80A at the Army Training Centre in Požarevac.

These combat vehicles have been received from the Hungarian Defence Forces, and will be assigned to the Serbian Armed Forces’ units after necessary work has been performed.

The training activity was attended by soldiers and officers from the Army and Training Command, as well as persons from the Military Technical Institute and companies “Yugoimport-SDPR” and “Srboauto”.

The mechanics and drivers were trained for the vehicle platform and basic maintenance, while commanders and gunners for handling and basic maintenance of turret weapons and devices.

In parallel with the implementation of training, necessary activities for the establishment of the maintenance system for APC BTR-80/80A are being carried out.

Afterwards, members of the Serbian Armed Forces are to attend training in driving and firing at night, and then tactical training in order to master fully this combat asset.
