Rotation of SAF Teams in EUTM Somalia
Wednesday, 28.2.2024 | Multinational Operations
Members of the Serbian Armed Forces, who had been engaged in EUTM Somalia since last August, returned to the Republic of Serbia last night after completing successfully their participation in the mission and handing over duties to a new contingent.
They were replaced by fellow doctors and medical technicians from the Ministry of Defense and Serbian Armed Forces, who were sent to the Area of Operation in mid February, and who began their six-month engagement after duty handover. Like their predecessors, they will be engaged in preventive medical care and treatment of the injured and ill force members in the mission.
Our contingent in Somalia consists of a staff officer appointed as head of the medical service at the Mission HQ and a five-member medical team in charge of medical training support and primary medical protection of international forces stationed at Mogadishu Airport.
The Serbian Armed Forces began participating in EUTM Somalia in 2012, and more than 120 doctors and medical technicians have been deployed in this mission so far performing the duties within the HQ and medical team.
