International Course in the Field of Ionizing Radiation

The Course “Detection, Dosimetry and Protection from Ionizing Radiation” is being held for members of the armed forces from eight countries at the CBRN Training Center in Kruševac this week.
Members of the CBRN services from the armed forces of Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Greece, Italy, Hungary, the United States of America, Slovenia and Spain are undergoing training in order to learn how to perform specific tasks when exposed to ionizing radiation.
During the five-day training activity, in specialized study rooms and during practical exercises, the participants practice using means for detection and dosimetry, techniques for measuring and identifying sources of ionizing radiation, assessing the effects of radiation on biological systems and how to apply basic protection measures.
Certified instructors from the CBRN Training Center are the ones to conduct training in this international course, as well as visiting lecturers from the Vinča Institute of Nuclear Science and Serbian Radiation and Nuclear Safety and Security Directorate.
Implementation of this and similar international courses at the CBRN Training Center contributes to the exchange of experience, further improvement of training capacities of the Serbian Armed Forces in this field, as well as strengthening military-to-military cooperation with partner states.
