Divers’ Training at Great Depths
Thursday, 27.6.2024 | Training
Members of the diving unit from the River Flotilla carried out several days of training and conditioning on Lake Zavoj near Pirot for the execution of a wide range of tasks in the vicinity of inland waterways.
With this training, the divers started their summer training, the general goal being to sustain and further improve individual and collective skills and overall combat readiness of the unit.
During their stay at the lake for several days, the divers implemented the planned training contents in deep dives, at the depths of up to 50 meters, and practiced tactical actions and procedures during search and rescue on the rivers, lakes and canals, as well as the extraction of sunken objects.
The focus was on additional training of the youngest divers, who prepare systematically in this way for higher diving categories, and therefore for more complex and dangerous tasks.
Divers’ training in the Serbian Armed Forces is very demanding because divers are expected to be ready to act in extreme conditions at any time, and only the highest level of skills guarantees the successful execution of all tasks, from underwater mining, anti-mine and anti-sabotage security of important facilities on inland waterways to search and rescue in all hydrometeorological conditions.
