Commemoration of Air Force and Air Defense Day

At the Command and units of Air Force and Air Defense, Air Force and Air Defense Day has been officially celebrated today – on 24 December, in memory of the day in 1912 when the decision was passed on the formation of the Air Force Command with headquarters in Niš.
On the occasion of the holiday, the working results in the year behind us were summarized, awards and recognitions were handed to individuals and institutions, and wreaths were laid at memorials to fallen members of the Air Force and Air Defense units.
The central ceremony has been held at the Aviation Club in Zemun, in the presence of Minister of Defense Miloš Vučević and Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff General Milan Mojsilović.
At the ceremony, looking back on the achieved results, it has been pointed out that this arm of the Serbian Armed Forces has successfully implemented all intended tasks in the previous year and that the cycle of strong equipping with complex combat systems and filling the units with personnel of all profiles was continued, which significantly improved the ability to control and protect the airspace of the Republic of Serbia.
The formal gathering at the Aviation Club has been attended by Air Force and Air Defense Commander Lieutenant General Duško Žarković, as a host, as well as representatives of the Serbian Armed Forces’ units, local government bodies, religious communities, establishments and institutions with which this arm of the Serbian Armed Forces cooperates, as well as numerous guests.
After the ceremony, the guests had the opportunity to view the exhibition "100 years of the national aviation industry" in the "Ikar" gallery.
