A delegation of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces laid a wreath at The Battle of Cer memorial complex in Tekeriš near Loznica, marking the 104th anniversary of the Battle of Cer.
Zoran Đorđević, Minister of Labour, Employment, Veterans and Social Affairs, who led the state ceremony, the representatives of the City of Loznica, Šabac, the Municipality of Krupanj, as well as representatives of numerous associations and citizens committed to cherishing the traditions of the Serbian liberation wars, laid wreaths at the memorial ossuary in Tekeriš.
The organizer of the state ceremony is the Committee of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for preserving traditions of Serbian liberation wars.
The Battle of Cers, which took place in August 1914, is one of the most important and greatest victories of the Serbian Army throughout the First World War. It is, however, a dazzling example of a tactically well-conceived and realised military operation.
Having won the victory in the famous Battle of Cer, members of the Serbian Armed Forces, led by General Stepa Stepanović, provided an example of immeasurable courage and patriotism that remained ingrained in the collective consciousness of our people.
