Congratulatory Letter
On November 16 – Army Day, Infantry Day, 110th Anniversary
The President of the Republic and Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces, Aleksandar Vučić, has sent a message on the occasion of November 16 - Army Day, Infantry Day and the 110th anniversary, which reads as follows:
I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all members of the Army and Infantry on November 16 – Army and Infantry Day and on their 110th anniversary.
In our national history, this year marks numerous historical anniversaries of Serbian liberation wars, which are extremely significant for the culture of memory of the Serbian people and the Armed Forces - the beginning of the First Serbian Uprising and World War I, the liberation of our capital in World War II, the pogrom against Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija and the battles of Cer and Kolubara, which had a decisive influence on the liberation of our homeland in the Great War.
By continuing the 110-year old tradition of Kolubara heroes, as members of the most numerous service and the oldest arm of the Serbian Armed Forces, you uphold the traditional values of our national history and the Serbian Armed Forces. Love for the homeland, patriotism, honor, honesty, determination and responsibility are the qualities that characterize Infantry and Army personnel, because they have someone to look up to and someone to follow.
In the past period, you have substantially contributed to strengthening the operational capabilities of your service and arm and the Serbian Armed Forces as a whole. I am certain you will continue in that direction. Being highly motivated and, above all, aware of the complexity of the military profession and all the challenges, risks and threats they face, members of the Army conscientiously carry out tasks included in all three missions of the Armed Forces, showing great dedication, seriousness and, above all, professionalism in completing the tasks of deterring armed threats and monitoring the Ground Safety Zone.
We have accomplished a lot when it comes to the modernization of the Army units. Owing to the acquisition of state-of-the-art weapons and military equipment, you perform the tasks assigned to you, achieving excellent results regarding the training and development of members of this service of the Armed Forces. Together with other defense forces, you protect the security of Serbia and its citizens. We will not stop equipping the Army and we will no longer allow the development of the Army to fall behind, because we want a strong military, a stable state, we want to preserve the integrity, independence and sovereignty of our homeland.
I wish you a happy holiday and anniversary, confident that in the future you will do your best to fulfill your tasks professionally and increase the level of expertise of your components, for which you will have the full support of the Republic of Serbia.
