Day of Serbian Armed Forces’ IT Service

Today, the Telecommunications and Information Technology Directorate (J-6) of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff and its subordinate units have celebrated the Day of the IT Service of the Serbian Armed Forces and Day of the Command and Information Systems and IT Support Centre.
At the ceremonies held on that occasion, the results achieved by the Service members in the period between the two holidays were presented, and the most distinguished individuals received awards and commendations.
Referring to the achieved results, the emphasis was placed on the achievements of the developing IT service, introduction and use of the information and command-information systems and services in computer networks, as well as implementation of new solutions for system protection and information security in the Ministry of Defense and Serbian Armed Forces.
Day of the IT Service and Day of the Command and Information Systems and IT Support Centre are marked in memory of 21 February 1963, when the Sixth Directorate of the General Staff of the Yugoslav People’s Army (JNA) was formed. This day marks the beginning of introduction of computer technology to the armed forces.
