As part of the regular cycle of training to perform the tasks in summer conditions, members of the 1st Army Brigade’s Reconnaissance Company are undergoing intensive training in Fruška Gora.
The training activity, which lasts for several days, includes the acquisition and improvement of knowledge and skills in throwing a knife, fighting and overcoming water obstacles using standard vessels, while officers and soldiers are also trained in reconnaissance using unmanned aircraft, conducting combined reconnaissance patrols and independent nutrition outdoors.
According to a Reconnaissance Company Commander, the training process in these formations is complex and challenging, in order for each member of the unit to learn how to survive in the wild, defend themselves and defeat the enemy, overcome a water obstacle and collect information of relevance to the superior command.
A Platoon Commander in the Reconnaissance Company has pointed out that one of the training goals is to provide soldiers and officers with skills necessary to survive on their own in the nature.
— The main training objective is to conduct basic training in independent outdoor nutrition with newly recruited members, and carry out the advanced techniques of collecting and preparing food with more experienced members. The training activity is delivered by instructors with many years of experience and necessary training in the aforementioned field, which consists of a theoretical and practical part, said the Platoon Commander.
Training also includes practicing tactical actions needed for the reconnaissance units such as patrols, observation units and reconnaissance groups to perform tasks and other actions according to the assigned tasks.
According to a Reconnaissance Squad Commander, it takes a great deal of knowledge and psychophysical readiness to execute intended tasks.
Special operations’ tactical training is one of the most important contents of training in summer conditions for all reconnaissance units; it is extremely demanding in a tactical sense, it also requires good physical preparation for swimming, as well as knowledge of engineering techniques that we improve through various training contents — emphasized the Squad Commander.
Reconnaissance units of the Serbian Armed Forces undergo training throughout the year in different terrain and in all conditions in which they could be potentially engaged, which ensures a high level of competence of these units in the execution of tasks of providing intelligence security to forces on operation.
