60 Years since the Establishment of Information Service

Today, at Guard’s Club in Topčider, there has been a ceremony on the occasion of 60 years since the establishment of the Information Service and Day of the Command Information Systems and IT Support Centre.
The ceremony was an occasion to present the most important working results of the SAF IT Service in the year behind and hand recognitions to the best individuals and appreciation certificates to the institutions the Telecommunications and Information Technology Directorate (J-6) and its subordinate units successfully cooperate with.
As for the development of the IT Service in the Serbian army, special reference was made to notable results achieved in designing, implementing and exploiting information systems and how important this service was for providing SAF and MOD with uninterrupted telecommunications and IT support and information protection.
Day of the Information Service and Day of the Command Information Systems and IT Support Centre are marked to commemorate 21 February 1963, the day when the 6th Directorate of the Yugoslav People’s Army General Staff was formed. This was the day when computer technology was introduced in the military and other businesses.
