Members of the Serbian Armed Forces who participated in UNIFIL have arrived in the Republic of Serbia today following a six-month engagement in peacekeeping tasks in this Middle Eastern country.
At Nikola Tesla Airport in Belgrade, they were received by Minister of Defense Bratislav Gašić, Head of Operations Directorate (J-3) of the General Staff Major General Gordan Pavlović and Commander of the 3rd Army Brigade Colonel Vladan Milosavljević.
The Minister of Defense extended a warm welcome to members of the Serbian Armed Forces, expressing gratitude that, like their predecessors, they had successfully carried out responsible tasks in the AO, and satisfaction that everyone was well.
— In complex security conditions, you managed to represent us worthily in an international environment. Your task was not easy at all, having in mind the unstable situation in Lebanon - said Minister Gašić.
According to him, with their courage and responsibility, they showed the Serbian Armed Forces, Ministry of Defense and Republic of Serbia in their true colors.
The Minister of Defense wished the Serbian Armed Forces’ members and their families a Merry Christmas, expressing hope that the new SAF contingent in Lebanon would have more peaceful six months.
This is a regular replacement of the Serbian Armed Forces’ contingent composed of the 3rd Army Brigade’s infantry company, staff officers and a group of specialists in charge of providing support; the new contingent will be deployed to the AO in Lebanon tomorrow.
