Friday, 28.7.2023 | Training
The “Serbian Shield” Tactical Exercise has been conducted at the “South Base” and “Borovac” Training Ground near Bujanovac this week aiming to check the readiness of the Force Protection Platoon to be deployed with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon.
This is a unit of the Training Command that will be deployed in this Middle Eastern country as part of the Italian Contingent, with the basic task of securing the base where UN peacekeeping forces are located.
For several days of training activities, members of the unit have been dealing with tactical problems that could be expected in the Area of Operation, while the skills and interoperability of the platoon were evaluated by the SAF General Staff Assessment Team.
Procedures on the move, taking anti-aircraft protection measures, working at a permanent checkpoint and observation station, and actions in the event of an attack on the base or encountering mines and explosive ordnance have been monitored and evaluated.
It has been concluded that the Force Protection Platoon has reached the defined standards and is fully ready for engagement with the UN Interim Force in Lebanon.
The Serbian Armed Forces have been deploying a force protection platoon in this operation since 2014; in addition, there are a SAF infantry company, staff officers, and a group of specialists in charge of supporting our contingent performing peacekeeping tasks in Lebanon.
