REPUBLIC OF SERBIA
PRESIDENT

C O N G R A T U L A T O R Y   M E S S A G E

I wish to congratulate all Air Force and Air Defense members on 24 December – the Arm’s Day.

By decision of the Serbian Ministry of the Military and General Staff, Field Marshal Radomir Putnik passed the Decree on the Establishment of the Air Force Command headquartered in Niš on 24 December 1912, more than a century ago. At the turn of the century, Serbia was among the first countries in the world to be developing Air Force.

Throughout rich Serbian history, while defending their fatherland, Air Force members exhibited heroism, high morale, excellent tactics and discipline, and their organized defense impressed so much the freedom-loving world; they did not hesitate even for a moment to lay down their lives.

The achieved results show that Serbian Air Force and Air Defense units follow in the footsteps of that Serbian Army from 1912, when our country was one of the 15 countries in the world that had military air force and one of the top 5 that used aircraft for combat purposes during the Balkan wars.

Through committed work and professional approach, with fully proficient and highly motivated personnel, you perform today your tasks of control and protection of sovereignty of the airspace, air defense of our territory, important facilities, administrative and industrial centers and Serbian Armed Forces.

In the year behind, the state continued with the acquisitions and modernization of the Air Force and Air Defense units, which is another step that we have taken on our road towards strengthening and developing the units of your Arm.

I congratulate you on your holiday, certain that you will perform successfully intended tasks in the future as well, contributing to building and developing not only your units but also the entire Serbian Armed Forces.

PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC
Aleksandar Vučić
