The CIMIC Department (J-9) of the SAF General Staff has organized an international CIMIC course to be held in Kruševac this and next week.

The course participants are officers and NCOs from the Serbian Armed Forces and armed forces of Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Italy, the United States of America and the Netherlands who deal with CIMIC affairs, as well as representatives of civil institutions from the Republic of Serbia.

During the two-week training activity at the “Car Lazar” Barracks, they will be trained to work in various positions as part of CIMIC teams and units at the tactical level, expanding their knowledge about the activities of civil organizations in the areas of multinational operations.

Practical and theoretical training is conducted by a combined team of instructors from the Serbian Armed Forces and armed forces of Italy, the USA and the Netherlands, as well as guest lecturers from the Emergency Management Sector of the Ministry of the Interior, Commissariat for Refugees and Migration and Red Cross of Serbia.

International training of this kind provides participants with a basis for a better understanding of modern challenges in working with civil organizations in a complex operational environment, and is also an opportunity for officers and NCOs from different countries to exchange experience in the field of non-military cooperation.

The Serbian Armed Forces have been organizing this course since 2008, and, so far, more than 400 participants from the Republic of Serbia and 17 partner countries from the region and world have been trained according to this training model.
