The Serbian Armed Forces’ Peacekeeping Operations Centre organized a three-week international UN staff officer training course that was successfully implemented at the South Base near Bujanovac.

The course was attended by members of the Serbian Armed Forces, Ministry of Internal Affairs and armed forces from nine foreign countries; they were fully trained in our centre to perform staff roles in UN peacekeeping operations.

In accordance with the training program, they went through theoretical and practical contents related to the most important aspects of functioning of integrated UN missions, the planning process in a military component and staff roles and procedures, having the opportunity to hear direct experience from engagement in current peacekeeping operations.

The training course was conducted by a team of instructors from the Ministry of Defense and the Serbian Armed Forces, also involving the instructors from partner centers from Hungary and Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as visiting lecturers from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Red Cross of Serbia, International Committee of the Red Cross and UN High Commissioner for Refugees.

The Peacekeeping Operations Centre was certified by the UN Integrated Training Service to conduct this course. As in the past years, foreign countries were highly interested in sending their personnel to this course, which speaks of the high quality of training and preparations made by the Serbian Armed Forces for the needs of participation in peacekeeping operations.
