Day of Air Surveillance and Early Warning Service

At the “Banjica” Barracks in Belgrade today, a ceremony has been held on the occasion of the Day of the Air Surveillance and Early Warning Service, which is marked on 18 June in memory of the day in 1915 when an order was issued to establish permanent signal stations to indicate the direction of the flight of enemy planes.
On the occasion of the holiday, the results of the work of the year behind us were summarized, awards were presented to the most distinguished members of the 126th ASEWG Brigade and wreaths were laid at the memorial in the barracks, which is a way for this unit to preserve the memory of the perished in the 1999 NATO aggression.
While making a reference to the achieved results, improvement of skills of the professional staff and introduction into use of new automatic systems and the most modern long-range radars were underlined.
The ceremony has been attended by Air Force and Air Defense Commander Lieutenant General Duško Žarković, representatives of SAF units, Serbian Orthodox Church, local government bodies and institutions with which the Brigade cooperates.
Today, members of the 126th ASEWG Brigade have also celebrated the Saint Patron’s Day the unit – St. Venerable Peter of Korish.
