Gun Salute to Mark Serbian Armed Forces Day
Thursday, 22.4.2021 | Culture and traditions
By order of the Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces and President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić, members of the SAF Guard fired a gun salute to mark 23 April — the Serbian Armed Forces Day.
After the flag was raised and the Serbian national anthem "God of Justice" was played at the Sava Plateau, a ten-volley gun salute was performed by firing six artillery weapons in the presence of the Deputy Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff Major General Petar Cvetković and numerous citizens who took advantage of the warm, sunny day to go for a walk in Kalemegdan.
The Serbian Armed Forces Day is celebrated in memory of the day when the Second Serbian Uprising erupted in 1815.
