This week, a tactical exercise of the force protection platoon was held at the ”Borovac” Training Ground and the ”South” Base, where the readiness of the unit to deploy in the United Nations peacekeeping operation in Lebanon was checked.
It is the unit of the Training Command that will be engaged in Lebanon as part of the Italian contingent, with the main task of securing the base, where the United Nations peacekeeping forces are located.
During the exercise, the members of this unit solved the tactical tasks that can be expected in the area of peacekeeping operation, while the skills and interoperability were evaluated by the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff Assessment Team.
The results indicate that the force protection platoon has reached the defined standards and is fully trained, equipped and ready for engagement in the United Nations peacekeeping operation in Lebanon.
The Serbian Armed Forces have been deploying a force protection platoon in this operation since 2014, and an infantry company for peacekeeping tasks in Lebanon, as well as staff officers and a group of specialists in charge of supporting our contingent.
