At the Sergeant-Pilot Mihajlo Petrović Military Airfield in Niš, basic parachute training of soldiers performing military service and young officers recently appointed to initial positions in the 63rd Parachute Brigade is underway.
This training is a mandatory part of the Brigade members’ advancement and professional basis for upgrading their parachuting skills and ability to perform combat tasks using vertical maneuvers. It lasts four weeks: three weeks for the ground part, and one week for doing parachute jumps.
As part of ground training, which is extremely psycho-physically demanding, the focus is on working on parachute equipment, as well as on enhanced physical preparation, so that the training participants acquire necessary knowledge about landing parachutes and parachute equipment and master the basics of parachute jumping techniques and procedures in emergency situations.
What follows is the execution of parachute jumps during the day and at night, with weapons and equipment, using modern landing parachutes.
Upon successful completion of basic parachute training, participants acquire the title of paratrooper, and the soldiers become eligible to become professional members of the 63rd Parachute Brigade after completing military service, which is something that everyone from this class has already expressed interest in
