Participants in the 71st Command and Staff College of the National Defence School “Field Marshal Radomir Putnik” have been on a field trip to the SAF River Flotilla, at Aleksandar Berić Barracks in Novi Sad, today.

The visit was carried out as part of the Command and Control Course, with the aim of familiarizing the officers, who are being trained for command and staff duties, with the place, role and importance of this SAF unit, river units’ branch and amphibious and pontoon specialties of the engineer branch.

The visit was an opportunity to present the purpose, role and tasks of the River Flotilla, its capacities for conducting operations independently and in interoperability with other forces of the Army, Air Force and Air Defense, as well as specifics of the implementation of tasks on inland waterways.

The Command and Staff Course, conducted during one academic year at the University of Defense, is a second-level special officer training program during which officers are trained to command battalion-level tactical units and to perform staff duties at tactical and operational commands.
