Reception for Prominent Serbian Armed Forces’ Athlete Sergeant Đuro Borbelj

Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff General Milan Mojsilović has hosted a reception today for prominent Serbian Armed Forces’ athlete Sergeant Đuro Borbelj.
On that occasion, General Mojsilović handed Sergeant Borbelj a wristwatch and a Plaque of the Serbian Armed Forces for his exceptional athletic results achieved in 2022.
Sergeant Đuro Borbelj was born on 16 May 1995 in Sombor, and he started his professional military service in 2016. He serves as Squad Commander in the 18th Engineer Battalion, 1st Army Brigade. He is a member of the Apatin Athletic Club, and he competes as an active athlete for the Serbian Representation and Serbian Armed Forces Representation.
Last year, he competed in 23 races: he won 21 races, and took second place in 2 of them. In 2022, he won the Serbian 5km track race, 10km road race, half-marathon and marathon. He set a record for the Serbian Armed Forces in the marathon.
While presenting awards to Sergeant Borbelj, Chief of the General Staff expressed his belief that he will continue with his athletic results in the years ahead of us and be the leader of SAF athletes who score notable results by rule at local and international competitions and represent their armed forces and state in a dignified manner.
