In order to mitigate the consequences of the long-term drought that caused water shortages, members of the Serbian Armed Forces are engaged in providing assistance in the water supply of households in the municipalities of Mionica and Sjenica.

The municipality of Mionica has declared a state of emergency on the territory of the entire municipality due to extreme weather conditions, disruptions in water supply and threats to people's health.

At the request of the District Headquarters for Emergency Situations of the Kolubara Administrative District, a water tanker truck from the 2nd Training Centre has been deployed in the Mionica Municipality since the beginning of the week. Primarily, wells, cisterns and reservoirs for water used in households and for watering livestock are being replenished, namely in the villages of Ključ, Bukovac, Đurđevac and Rajković.

From today, members of the Serbian Armed Forces are also on the same task in the villages on the Pešter Plateau in the municipality of Sjenica, where earlier this year and in previous years, the engineering of the Serbian Armed Forces carried out works on digging new and the arrangement and cleaning of existing watering holes for livestock.

In a situation where the inhabitants of many villages are facing a shortage of water, the Serbian Armed Forces remain ready to engage its forces and resources in order to assist the population and reduce the consequences of the drought.

Along with water supply, members of the Serbian Armed Forces, at the request of local government bodies and in coordination with the Ministry of Public Investment, are currently engaged in the rehabilitation of local roads in the territory of several municipalities, thus showing that they are always ready to provide assistance to citizens in the shortest possible time, whenever it is necessary.
