Members of the military police detachment from the Serbian Armed Forces, who were deployed in the United Nations peacekeeping operation in Cyprus for the previous six months, returned to the country after successfully participating in the mission.
During their deployment, they professionally and expertly carried out all tasks in accordance with the mission mandate and thus represented the Serbian Armed Forces and the Republic of Serbia in the international environment in the best possible way. Last week, they handed over the duty to a new contingent of the Serbian Armed Forces, which was sent to the area of operation at the beginning of this month.
The military police detachment in the peacekeeping operation in Cyprus is part of the British contingent and carries out a wide range of tasks, such as the implementation of force protection measures, investigative actions under the United Nations mandate, security patrols and escorts of important persons.
Apart from the military police detachment in the UNFICYP, the Serbian Armed Forces also deploy staff officers in the mission command in Nicosia, and previously, from 2011 to 2018, they also participated in this mission with a unit of the rank of infantry platoon.
