Major General Andres Callert, the exercise Director of Exercise VIKING 18, hosted by Brigadier General Dejan Janković, the Training Command Chief of Staff , visited Remote Exercise Site Serbia on 21 April.
During his stay in Serbia Major General Andres Callert visited all the exercise elements at the Remote Site Serbia and he was informed about the way the exercise is organized and he talked to the exercise participants.
- I think that the VIKING 18 exercise is a good opportunity to train and educate participants to meet the challenges of current and future multi-dimensional crisis response. The essence is that the problems are not solved only by the military, but by the interaction of the military, police and civil organizations. This comprehensive approach is something that needs to be trained and we perform it here during the VIKING 18 - said Major General Callert at the end of his visit.
- I am really grateful for the opportunity to visit the Remote Site Serbia and it is obvious the you have had all the necessary skills and knowledge from the very beginning how to organize and execute the Computer Assisted Exercise, and that is why you were able to understand the exercise scenario very quickly and take advantage of all the opportunities that it can provide. I have seen that the personnel are well-trained and that they have good interaction with each other and I have heard positive attitudes taken by the participants. I have been impressed by the knowledge and skills of the Serbian Armed Forces officers.
Colonel Mičo Branković, the Chief of the Simulation Training Centre and the Remote Site Serbia Exercise Director, presented the way the VKING 18 exercise is organized as well as the exercise participants.
- I am exceptionally honored and privileged for the opportunity to host Major General Callert, the exercise Director of Exercise VIKING 18 of the largest international Computer Assisted Exercise. This visit is a signal that the Serbian Armed Forces has put a lot of effort and made very high quality and comprehensive preparations for such a complex exercise. At the request of Major General Callert, we also presented him the capabilities of the JCATS software, which we use in National Computer Assisted Exercise - said Colonel Branković.
Today Major General Callert also had a meeting with the Acting Chief of the Training and Doctrine Department, Colonel Boško Zorić. They talked about the training, the exercise execution and the possibilities for the future co-operation.
