CBRN Units Undergo Training

At Military Complex "Ravnjak", Kruševac, the 246th CBRN Battalion personnel are currently undergoing training in providing CBRN support to SAF units.
Taking into account specific tasks this unit is intended for, it is imperative that it should undergo Rapid Response Training, conducted continuously throughout the year in all the conditions potentially encountered by serving members during engagement.
In the course of training, the unit members refine methodology and procedures for working in a contaminated environment, from setting up a field laboratory, detection, proper taking and analysis of potentially contaminated samples, to decontamination and protective measures in the event of nuclear or chemical attack. The training process implies using portable radiometric and chemical laboratories, latest detectors, decontamination assets and insulating equipment ensuring full protection of personnel working with contaminants.
Conducting such training successfully is not only a way to provide the 246th CBRN Battalion members with additional skills needed to perform intended tasks on SAF operations, but also to improve their readiness to provide efficient support to civilian authorities in mitigating the impacts of natural disasters, technical-technological and other accidents.
