Members of the 37th Mechanized Battalion have been intensively engaged in practising tactical actions carrying out firings at the Western Military District of the Russian Federation Armed Forces at the Luga firing range for several days.
With colleagues from the Russian 9th Artillery Brigade, members of the 37th Mechanized Battalion support team conducted firings at targets from 120 mm mortars and achieved very good results.
In the framework of practising, our soldiers marched with vehicles from the camp area where they were first located, to the Luga firing range itself, through a 25 km-long difficult terrain, to the position on the first line of defence, and then occupied the next position in the waiting position. During the march, tactical actions of mechanised units were applied.
In the field, the participants in the exercise stay in dug-outs that they produced themselves from wood, shelter halves and masked them with natural vegetation.
Main responsible structures for the exercise are the 6th Army Command, 25th Motor Rifle Brigade and 9th Artillery Brigade of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
Luga firing range occupies an area of tens of square kilometres and this space is completely uninhabited, which allows training of larger units using ammunition without causing danger to the life and health of the local population.
Before the very beginning of the practising, within the framework of cultural activities, the members of the Serbian Armed Forces organised a tour of cultural and historical monuments of the city of Luga, as well as a concert of the Russian folk music and dances.
