Ceremonial Beginning of Training of Youngest SAF Soldiers

Training activities have officially begun for soldiers of the December 2023 intake in the units of the Serbian Armed Forces in Sombor, Valjevo and Leskovac, today.
Previously, upon arriving at the barracks, the soldiers went through a period of adaptation, were assigned weapons and equipment and familiarized themselves with basic rules of life and work in the Serbian Armed Forces.
Now they are expected to undergo a period of intensive training during which they will be trained for the military occupational specialties for which they were recruited.
Over the next five weeks, at the basic training centers, they will be trained to handle personal weapons, undertake basic tactical actions and procedures in battle, fulfill guard duties and improve their physical fitness.
This is followed by branch-specific individual specialist training, and then collective training during the second period of military service in the Serbian Armed Forces’ units.
Soldiers can apply for admission to professional military service while still on their military service, after which they will go through the prescribed procedure and meet the requirements to join the ranks of professional members of the Serbian Armed Forces immediately after completing their military service.
