Military Veterans Day Marked

A series of commemorative ceremonies marked the Day of Military Veterans — December 4, in the commands, units and institutions of the Serbian Armed Forces, as a sign of gratitude and respect for the immortal deeds of warriors who fought for the freedom of the homeland.
On the occasion of the holiday, delegations of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces laid wreaths and flowers at military memorials throughout the Republic of Serbia to officers and soldiers killed in the liberation and defense wars.
On the occasion of the Day of Military Veterans, the Minister of Defense, Nebojša Stefanović, PhD and the Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović, held a reception for representatives of military veterans, as well as veteran and traditional associations at the House of the Guard in Topčider.
A ceremonial academy was held in the House of the Guard, which was attended by the envoy of the Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces and the President of the Republic, Suzana Paunović, Minister Stefanović and General Mojsilović with members of their boards, representatives of churches and religious communities, military veterans and other guests. Along with the appropriate cultural program, military awards were also presented.
Military Veterans Day is marked in memory of the date when the armistice in the First Balkan War was signed in 1912 and when 400,000 soldiers of the Military of the Kingdom of Serbia received the title of "old warrior", i.e. military veteran.
