As part of their summer training in carrying out specific MP tasks, members of the Fifth Military Police Battalion have conducted firearms and tactical training at Orešac Range this week.

The firearms training included firing the 7.62 mm M-86 machine gun mounted on MP combat vehicles, the purpose of which is to maintain and improve the firearms skills and test the level of training of the crew responsible for destroying and neutralizing ground targets.

At the range, military policemen have also conducted collective training on Miloš 4x4 armoured combat vehicles, which are designed to provide fire support during counterterrorism and counterinsurgency operations. The purpose of the training was to teach all unit members how to use these vehicles in combat, independently or in coordination with other security forces.

Their introduction into operational use has improved the MP units’ manoeuvrability, firepower, ability to perform mobile offensive actions and protect members of the military police.

According to the platoon commander, Lieutenant Uroš Stojnović, continuous training is necessary for members of the military police in order for them to be able to effectively fulfil all the tasks assigned to them.

- The goal of the training conducted by the unit is to prepare officers and soldiers to respond adequately to critical situations. The unit is equipped with modern weapons and assets of domestic and foreign production, and the training, which is conducted throughout the year, ensures efficient execution of all assigned tasks - says Lieutenant Stojnović and emphasizes that the members of the military police have achieved excellent scores in their firearms training and shown a high level of motivation and readiness for the execution of tasks assigned to them.
According to Master Sergeant Ivica Cvetković, military policemen must be highly trained to be able to achieve good results.

- Firing from combat vehicles is complex and challenging, because, in addition to firearms training, it requires good coordination and training of all crew members, in order for them to achieve excellent results - said Master Sergeant Cvetković.
