Serbian CHOD General Ljubisa Diković held talks in Belgrade with the commander of the Ohio National Guard Major General Deborah Ashenurst.
General Diković. exchanged with his guest from the U.S views on the cooperation between Serbian Army and Ohio National Guard, paying special attention to directions and areas of importance for future cooperation. Another focal point in the talks was the development plan of base "Jug" and the joint participation in the exercise "Active Guardian 13" in Hungary.
During his stay in the Republic of Serbia , General Ashenhurst will attend some of the joint activities conducted by the SAF and ONG members that are to be held in the General Staff of the Serbian Army and the Army GS, while also attending the promotion of the youngest Serbian Army officers. She will visit the base "Jug" , where she will attend the handover of the MILES program that the Serbian Army has purchased with through the American program of the Global Initiative for Peace Operations .
Major General Deborah Ashenhurst was also received by the Defense Minister Nebojsa Rodic.
The official Visit of the ONG Commander is part of a group activity "CAPSTONE" , that has been conducted since 2007 , within the State Partnership Program of Ohio and Serbia. This year, a group of experts from Ohio is visiting base "Jug" , and members of the Ohio National Guard visited the Army Training Simulation Centre Serbia. Also, there are ongoing talks on cyber defense and security as well as developing cooperation in providing assistance to civil authorities during emergencies. Cooperation in the area of military religious service has also been launched, with the chief chaplain of ONG visiting Serbia as well.
The cooperation of the Serbian Army and the National Guard of Ohio is a dynamic one, and conducted at a high level. Such excellent relations and trust were established by joint engagement in training and exercises , through the " Humanitarian Assistance" and the exchange of experiences in many areas.
