Friday, 5.7.2024 | Training
At the “Borovac” Training Ground and “South” Base near Bujanovac, collective training of the Serbian Armed Forces’ unit from the Training Command for engagement in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) is underway.
This is the final phase of preparations which take several months and which members of the unit go through prior to deployment to the Area of Operation in order to be fully qualified to perform their tasks as part of the peacekeeping forces.
In the Area of Operation, this unit will be in charge of securing the base where UN forces are stationed, while, at the moment, it is practicing appropriate tactics, techniques and procedures in field conditions focusing on the procedures while patrolling and securing the base.
Collective training ends in late July, when a tactical exercise will be carried out, during which the skills and interoperability of the unit for engagement in UNIFIL will be checked in practice.
The Serbian Armed Forces have been deploying a force protection unit in the United Nations mission in this Middle Eastern country since 2014; currently, an infantry company of the Serbian Armed Forces, staff officers and a group of specialists in charge of supporting our contingent are deployed in the Area of Operation.
