Novelties in Commanding the Special Brigade

Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin and the Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, Lieutenant General Milan Mojsilović, visited the Special Brigade at the “Rastko Nemanjić” barracks in Pančevo, which is now under the direct command of the Chief of the General Staff.
The change in position of the Special Brigade was made based on the guidelines of the President of the Republic of Serbia and Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces, Aleksandar Vučić, included in the Analysis of operational capabilities of the Serbian Armed Forces in December 2017, in order to increase the reaction speed and simplify the line of command of the most elite brigade of the Serbian Armed Forces. This line of command is a practice in similar units in most armed forces around the world.
Speaking to the gathered members of the Special Brigade, Minister Vulin pointed out that when we conceive difficult, when we conceive hard, when we conceive someone to be the first, it is them we have in mind, each one of them.
– You who are the successors of the glorious wartime names know that you are those of whom your country, your people, your armed forces think of first in times of trouble, when it is hardest. You know that in the hardest and most difficult times, those who came before you and you alongside them, have never made the wrong choice. In the wars that were imposed upon Serbia, the wars that we did not want, you demonstrated that you are worthy of memory of the glorious ancestors – emphasized Minister Vulin.
He went on to say that today, standing in front of members of the Special Brigade, each and everyone feels pride, pride to be united, unified, safe and mighty, adding that, in line with the orders of the Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces, Aleksandar Vučić, members of the Special Brigade are to be especially taken care of with regards to their material position, training, equipment, position within the armed forces, as they are the best we have.
Chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant General Milan Mojsilović expressed his satisfaction at the opportunity to be with the Special Brigade today, among the true and top professionals.
– You will be faced with tasks of the strategic level and character, and your unit, as the sole unit of this kind in the Serbian Armed Forces is specially organized, trained and equipped to carry out the special combat and non-combat, security and intelligence tasks arising from the defence strategy and military doctrine, that can successfully respond to contemporary challenges, risks and threats – emphasized General Mojsilović.
The Army Commander, Lieutenant General Milosav Simović, recalling that the Special Brigade was established in 2006 and has been part of the Army from 2007 to date, is an elite part of the Serbian Armed Forces.
– You have successfully completed all the regular and extraordinary tasks that your brigade received from the Army Command, but also all those that the Army received from the Chief of the General Staff, Minister of Defence and President of the Republic of Serbia. I congratulate you on the expertise, courage and dedication, as well as the worthy representation of the members of the Serbian Armed Forces and the upholding of its reputation – said Lieutenant General Milosav Simović, to the present members of the Special Brigade.
