Collective training of an infantry company from the 1st Army Brigade, which will be deployed within the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) in the summer, is underway at the South Base and Borovac Training Ground.

This training is the most important part of thorough several-month preparations, during which the unit and all its members are trained to perform tasks in the AO.

In the first phase of preparation, professional soldiers and officers underwent tactical, firearms, and physical training in order to renew their knowledge and skills and be ready to undertake the current collective training.

As commander of the infantry company that will be sent to Lebanon, Captain 1st Class Marko Dražić, explains, the unit has successfully passed all training phases, aiming to reach full readiness to perform tasks in an international environment.

— The training started with individual training in Bačka Topola, keeping the focus in particular on getting to know each other and improving individual skills. After that, we moved to the collective training phase at the South Base near Bujanovac, focusing on practicing tactical procedures and carrying out specific tasks according to probable scenarios in the mission. The goal of this segment is to train each individual for the specialty to which they are deployed and adapt to the real challenges they may encounter in the field. I am sure that, thanks to thorough preparation and high motivation, we will be worthy of the task that was entrusted to us and successfully contribute to safeguarding peace in the AO — said Captain Dražić.

In the final phase, as he points out, there will be a check of the company’s skills and readiness for the upcoming engagement, which will be carried out by the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff’s Assessment Team.

The Serbian Armed Forces have been deploying a unit of an infantry company-level in Lebanon since 2013, and, currently, our staff officers, a force protection platoon and a national support element are located in the AO of this UN peacekeeping operation.
