Serbian Armed Forces Conduct the Largest Tactical Exercise at Night

Last night, more than 750 members of the 3rd Army Brigade, with the support of Air Force and Air Defence units, successfully conducted the largest exercise of the Serbian Armed Forces at night on "Pasuljanske livade" range, where complex battle actions of a tactical group during a defence operation were performed at night, with the use of the most modern optoelectronic means that have recently been introduced in the armament of the Serbian Armed Forces. The exercise was conducted within the Joint Tactical Exercise with live fire "Lightning Strike 2021".
Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović, paid tribute to the Army and the Air Force for the implementation of an eventful and in many respects risky exercise security-wise and told the citizens of Serbia that the military was able to perform all its combat tasks, including those performed at night in complex weather conditions.
— In the last seven days, the Serbian Armed Forces have been conducting its training activities in high intensity in the airspace, on water, i.e. inland waterways, and on land. Tonight we attended the realization of the defensive operation at night, an exercise that was very demanding and complex with high elements when we talk about the effect of fire on the target — said General Mojsilović.
He expressed satisfaction not only with the achieved engaging of targets, but also with the overall tactical and combat operations.
— The Army proved that it could perform its combat operations not only in defensive operations, but also in offensive operations at night, and that is something that strengthens the confidence in the combat equipment available to the Army and the Air Force and creates confidence regarding all tasks conducted by the Serbian Armed Forces — said the Chief of the General Staff.
He reminded that the training activities started seven days ago, by testing the combat readiness of the entire Serbian Armed Forces.
— Ahead of us is another part of the activities on "South" base and the most eventful and dynamic part of the Joint Tactical Exercise "Lightning Strike", which will happen on June 27 at the temporary range "Pešter" — said General Mojsilović.
Last night, the units of the 3rd Army Brigade were supported by members of the Air Force and Air Defence, Tank Battalion T-72M, Armored Reconnaissance Battalion BRDM-2M, part of the units of the Mixed Artillery Brigade and members of the Military Technical Institute with equipment from the Serbian Defence Industry Development Program.
Participants in the tactical exercise demonstrated the defence of the region at night, with a combination of fire maneuvers and movement. During the execution of combat operations at night, military personnel relied on modern optoelectronic systems for observation and targeting at night, which are implemented in armored combat vehicles "Lazar 3", PASARS, "Pancir S-1", BRDM-2MS, on T-72MS tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, equipment from development, H-145 and Mi-35 helicopters, and remotely piloted aircraft CH-92 and "Sparrow". To solve the assigned tasks at night, the rest of the tactical group was supported by a fire group which, in addition to the fire support of the defence, illuminated the battlefield with the help of lighting projectiles and enabled precise targeting.
Joint tactical exercise with live fire "Lightning Strike 2021" is performed by units of the Army in cooperation with the Air Force and Air Defence, 72nd Special Operations Brigade and 63rd Parachute Brigade, at eight locations throughout the Republic of Serbia, in order to test the operational capabilities of the Serbian Armed Forces in response to challenges, risks and threats to the security of the citizens of the Republic of Serbia.
