Members of 210 Engineering Battalion of the 2nd Brigade of the Land Forces installed yesterday a heavily mechanized bridge in the village of Sirča near Kraljevo, where the river overflowed, destroying the existing bridge on a local road that completely collapsed, leaving hundreds of households cut off from the rest of the village, Kraljevo and its surroundings.
Commander of the 2nd Brigade, Brigadier General Željko Kuzmanović and Deputy Mayor of the City of Kraljevo,Vukman Rakočević were there for the installation of the bridge.
According to General Kuzmanović, the Serbian Armed Forces have developed capacities and capabilities to carry out the tasks of all three missions assigned.
- We were there for the successful implementation of the task from the third mission of the Serbian Armed Forces – the elimination of consequences from natural disasters and technical and technological accidents, where the Engineering unit of the Second Brigade of the Land Forces, in just a few days, “reconnected the village with the world”. What we have done is another confirmation of the relationship between the military and the people. It is not the first time that we engage in such tasks, but I hope that in the future, by timely taking all the appropriate measures, there will be less need for engaging the armed forces in eliminating such consequences, stated General Kuzmanović.
Deputy Mayor Kraljevo thanked the Serbian Armed Forces for the quick intervention in the Sirča Local Community, “because the local self-government had no way of solving this problem without the help of the armed forces”.
The heavy mechanized bridge is intended for bridging dry and aquatic, artificial and natural obstacles. The maximum bridging width is up to 40 meters, and the depth is up to three meters.
