On the order of the Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces and the President of the Republic, Aleksandar Vučić, on the occasion of the celebration of February 15 - Statehood Day, members of the Serbian Armed Forces Guard simultaneously performed gun salute in Belgrade, Novi Sad, Niš and Kragujevac.
The performance of the Guard's Representative Orchestra at Kalemegdan was preceded by the firing of 10 rounds from six guns, and to the sounds of the Army’s Military Band, 10 rounds were fired from four artillery guns from the Niš fortress, as well as from the Petrovaradin fortress in Novi Sad and in the Great Park in Kragujevac.
With a series of events, Serbia celebrates Statehood Day in commemoration of Sretenje (Candlemas) in 1804, when the First Serbian Uprising took place, and in commemoration of the day when the first modern Constitution of Serbia was adopted in 1835.
