Tactical exercise of the force protection platoon “Serbian Shield” has been held at the Borovac Training Ground and South Base this week, where the readiness of the unit to participate in UNIFIL was checked.
The exercise took place after several months of preparations in order to verify in practice the readiness of this Training Command unit for deployment to the AO in Lebanon, where its main task will be to secure the base of UN peacekeeping forces.
During the exercise, the unit members carried out tactical tasks awaiting them potentially in the AO of the peacekeeping operation, while the skills and interoperability were evaluated by a Serbian Armed Forces General Staff team.
The results indicate that the force protection platoon has reached the defined standards and is fully trained, equipped and ready to engage in a peacekeeping operation.
The Serbian Armed Forces have been deploying a force protection platoon in the United Nations mission in Lebanon since 2014. In addition to this platoon, the Serbian Armed Forces also deploy an infantry company in Lebanon, as well as staff officers and a group of specialists in charge of supporting our contingent.
